DAY THREE: WALL TO WALL 2016

Day three was a scorcher; when I arrived the artists were taking refuge in the shade with some snacks. Pat Lazo has begun priming on the wall inside of the courtyard at 781 Main Street.

DAY TWO: WALL TO WALL 2016

Day two of Wall to Wall underway at 781 Main Street.

There were a few more hands on deck today, including Chloe & Andrew from Synonym, and artist Dany Reede. The new addition of colour is pretty sublime.

WHERE? 781 MAIN STREET, CORNER OF SUTHERLAND AND MAIN
WHY? WALL TO WALL 2016

FIRST THINGS FIRST - A LITTLE ABOUT THE ARTISTS

PA System (Alexa Hatanaka and Patrick Thompson) work in textile, printmaking, painting, video, and public art. PA System has created collaborative, socially-engaged projects in Nunavut and Nunavik for 10 years, including their ongoing Embassy of Imagination initiative based in Cape Dorset, NU. They created award-winning public artwork for Vancouver's 2014 Year of Reconciliation. PA System exhibits their work in institutions worldwide, such as the Royal Ontario Museum, Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, University of New Mexico Art Gallery, and the Guanlan International Printmaking Base in China. This year, PA System is travelling to Winnipeg with Guest Artist Parr Josephee.

I arrived at 781 Main Street at about 7pm. If I didn't know that it was day one of Wall to Wall, I'd have thought they had been working for a little longer than just eight hours
